What’s best way to encourage others to go vegan? Do you think vegans appearing on mass media causes change?

Question: What’s best way to encourage others to go vegan? Do you think vegans appearing on mass media causes change?
Woody Harrelson, Ellen Degeneres, and Joaquin Phoenix are very mainstream journalists and television hosts. Ellen regularly mentions her vegan diet. Do you think all of her cheerful fans receive anything out of her doing this. Her show airs every morning to tens of millions of people in the country. Does this cause change?

What is the best way to cause change and encourage others?

Answer:

Answer by Lean Mean Vegan Teen
the best way to encourage change is to start by opening up your friends to veganism by your words and actions towards yourself and them. don’t try to be hostile towards them as this never works and almost always ends up making them think lowly of you and then on not taking anything you say to heart. the best thing that you can do is to organize some nonviolent vegan activities in your community that show the world that vegans are humans too and that we are just as normal as them. We should be educating others in a nonviolent and nonhostile manner that promotes both inward and outward expressions in our listeners while triggering their emotions by a combinations of words, videos, and other media sources. Converting a person can sometimes be as easy as telling them that you are vegan and they see that you are healthy and happy and would like to be more like you, but other times you have to take it slow, but not waste your time on that one person if you see no differences in their attitude after a few weeks. Different people respond to different things so if one method doesn’t work on someone, don’t automatically think that they are a lost cause and just use your imagination to help you try plan B right onto Z. Celebrities to their part, but you can do your part too. Just remember this quote from abolitionist vegan Gary Francione – “The World is Vegan! If you want it.”

How well do you think a book on vegetarianism or vegan would sell?

Question: How well do you think a book on vegetarianism or vegan would sell?
Hi. I am about to write a book on vegetarianism and vegan, and am wondering how well it would sell.
Tentaively, it is called – 101 Reasons to Go Vegan: The Complete Guide.
It will feautre the following sections:
- Environment Aspect
- Health Aspect
- Humane Aspect
- Cruelty Aspect
- Stories from vegans
- List of famous vegans
- And of course, 101 Reasons to go vegan.

So, tell me how well a book like that would sell, and if i should include other sections, and if so, what are they?

Thanks a lot.

It sounds like a great idea. Two things you should consider…have you talked to a publisher to see if there is a market for yet another book of this type? Will you be objective in your writing?

I always put a book back on the shelf if the author is browbeating the reader to stop being a bad person that following the author’s ways is the only way to become a good person.

Have you considered the economic impact caused by half of society turing to vegans?

Q&A: I have a 6.5 month old daughter and we have been doing “solid foods” for the past month and a half.?

Question: I have a 6.5 month old daughter and we have been doing “solid foods” for the past month and a half.?
The problem is that she will only eat in the evening. She wont really eat at all in the morning or afternoon. She is still breastfeeding. She doesn’t seem to like baby cereal either so I have pretty much stopped that and am doing a fruit and veggie at night. Well around 5 pm. Otherwise she strictly breastfeeds. Is this ok? I am thinking I should just keep trying every morning but It doesn’t seem to be making a difference she wont even take one bite!

Answer:

Answer by cathrl69
It’s completely fine. Solids in the first year are just for practice anyway. It wouldn’t matter if she was eating _no_ solids at her age.

Is it weird to make pasta and vegetarian meatballs for first time dinner guests?

Question: Is it weird to make pasta and vegetarian meatballs for first time dinner guests?
We had a couple over for dinner for the first time tonight and I asked them beforehand what they do not eat and they said Pork and Veal. So I decided to make pasta and vegetarian meatballs because I personally am not a huge fan of meat and my husband eats anything. Now, would you think that people you go to dinner to, and they surprise you with pasta and vegetarian meatballs (versus real meatballs) are weird people?
They are NOT vegetarian.

I’d make real meatballs, but I doubt they will care if they are vegetarian.

Why do people with fat, behemoth babies think their baby is better than every body else with smaller babies?

Question: Why do people with fat, behemoth babies think their baby is better than every body else with smaller babies?
My baby girl is 8 months old and she is only 21 pounds (in a sopping wet diaper) and since we’ve moved to Texas, everyone seems to have these whale children and my daughter is the subject of constant ridicule, i.e.: “Do you all feed her ‘nough food?” and “Oh my she’s a tiny lil’ thang.” (insert annoying Texan drawl, which amplifes the annoyingness of it all) Well, let’s see, she was breastfed for 6 months, she’s very mobile and adventerous, she can already walk…so she’s probably burning off the chunks she did have. So sorry about that. Next time I have a baby (if ever) I will get them a pork lard IV and sit them in a play pen all day with heaps of snacks. How do you reply to this assanine crap while being cordial and humane to people?

You IGNORE, if you’re capable of acting like an adult, which I see you’re not if you’re making fun of children.

Cat with various issues…and the vet “doesn’t understand what’s going on”?

Question: Cat with various issues…and the vet “doesn’t understand what’s going on”?
Hey guys, could do with a little professional help, bit of an awkward one. :( The cat is 2 year old tom. About 6months ago he had stones completely blocking his bladder. He was taken in, catheterised, all sorted and sent home. Has peed like a trooper since, no problems. For the last six months on and off he has experienced the same repeating symptoms.
-Weight fluctuation, he seems to gain a lot, but without getting “fat” he seems kind of bloated for weeks at a time, then slims down in a matter of days. Then back again.
-Dark irregular stools. he received various medications for this for 4ish months after having the stones (he was peeing freely but had not been for a poo for 8 days at one point.) Lactulose and pain killers, cystease to help reline his bladder (as best i can recall) something somewhere helped fix him up a little, he now goes every 3-4days, and medicaation was stopped to see if his system would return to normal itself.
- Bald patches around two ‘nipple’ type protrusions on his lower belly, they look red and sore. This happens frequently, but clears up quickly and the vet has not seen it up to yet.

He is an outdoor cat, at the vets request as they think the stones were caused by stress and this will releive it. His behaviour doesn’t seem to have changed at all, he is friendly and playful, inquisitive and mildly oblivious to his weight gain. When he had the stones he was only ever in pain on the litter tray, but it was easy to spot, he does not seem to have any pain now, but he does spend a much longer time digging around the litter tray before going number for a poo.
He is not outdoors all night ever, and is rarely out all day. He does not eat a lot, he is on prescription diet dry food to prevent stones (will he have to be on this forever?) he is on the dry food because he would not eat the wet at all. Today special litter was left at 9am, he hadn’t used litter tray by 4:00, so took him to the vet so they could get a sample, but his bladder was empty so no joy. The vet said take him back in a month and see how he goes, because they don’t know what’s causing the problems. His poo is becoming darker each time, and the vet said he’d gained an awful lot of weight – but he only eats about half of the recommended amount of prescription food for his size as it is, and he is on a strict diet at home. The only vet suggestion was that someone else is feeding him too, but it seems unlikely to me as when he is out he is mostly in sight, and it just doesn’t seem to answer everything else..
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read this, i honestly just tried to keep it basic. Any help would be gratefully appreciated, by myself and Frankie the cat. x

I am sorry that I do not have true advice other than it sounds like he is dehydrated at least a bit. I would get a second opinion. I had a kitty who went through the bladder crystals, and he successfully went 7 years after with no problems, but an office cat of mine got them at age 6 and had to be put down :( The whole crystal thing seems to have no real rhyme or reason. Just want to let ya knwo your not alone! Good luck to you and Frankie!!!
