sooo… ive got a rly rly rly big problem.. ive never seeked any professional help and never talked about it with a counselor or anything cause im too afraid to reveal the gravity of the problem to my parents.
sry if it seems as though as im illustrating my life story but i think you should know ..It all started about a years ago ( I was about 16), i weighed roughly 100 kgs i was really fat and careless about my looks and everything. I always had a desire to look rly good and get alot of girls and so on so i decided to go on a diet. I took it really seriously and all and in about 2 years i managed to loose 30 kgs. I also changed my style and everything. Many people have told me I really lost weight and i became skinny. I am actually now not fat at all and have a really good figure according to people. Alot of people .. actually most people think im really hot and cute and good looking.. but.. I think that I really have a below average or average figure. I constantly spend time looking in the mirror.. every mirror i pass by i have to peek into it. I spend an average of (and im not bullshitting) 2 hours a day infront of the mirror. I constantly ask my friends.. “do i look fat?”,”am i good like this?”.. etc.. A month ago I started dieting again and I lost 5 kgs since then.. the diet was rly strict.. im quite tall and quite active and according to calculations im supposed to eat an average of 2800 calories a day.. instead i eat about 600-900.. sometimes I feel so guilty that I have eaten that I force myself to puke :s.. and its not like I eat doughnuts.. i dont even eat carbs, even if its brown bread .. I snack (when i do, rarely) on fruit or on really small things.. I jst cannot get my mind straight :s.. also the girl problem did not imrpove.. i never go on girls myself.. the only girls I went out with was either because I was liked by them and they came on my or because a friend told me that they like me and then they forced me to talk to them..
This is a really big problem for me.. Its not healthy at all but I cant force myself not to do it!!

Im actually slightly underweight for my height and age, i didnt just come up with this on the spot i used the bmi index and online calculators and everything. In fact, my ribs are showing :S

Sorry for your drama. Try asking the doctor where your appropriate weight should be for your age and height. Then get to that goal an stay there. Try to feel good and confident in yourself. You are special.

I never really bother to like guys, or say “Oh, that guy is cute!” when I’m with my friends. I always call myself ugly, and a lot of people say that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. I wanted to believe that, but my best friend told me I was ugly, her MOM said I was ugly, some other people say it too. A lot of people are saying “Ha ha your fat!” or “How much do you weigh? XD” to me. I usually just laugh it off, but recently I’ve been getting emotional to the point where I hate myself and think of locking myself in my room and never getting out. I’m a good student, and I have a lot of friends, but usually I’m tired of worrying about keeping my head up so I don’t get a double chin, or wearing baggy clothes so I don’t look as chubby. I want to be able to go out and not worry about when people are looking at me. I’m chubby, not obese. I’m a tomboy because wearing larger clothing and looking like a guy will make people not think “Look at that fat chick!”. I want to wear girl clothes, and I want to act girly. I’m above average tall for my age too. I know it doesn’t suit me, and I’m worried if I’m wasting my time worrying about things like this. I don’t know what to do with myself.

Question: I need some nutritious meal ideas for a picky 18 month old?
My 18 month old daughter is super picky. She won’t even try new foods, and right now I can only get her to eat grapes, bananas, diced apples and carrots, grilled cheese, chicken nuggets dipped in ketchup, goldfish crackers and the occasional PB&J. I can’t get her to eat any veggies but her Gerber diced carrots. She drinks V8 Fusion juice so that’s the ONLY other veggies she gets. I’m sick of feeling guilty for her lack of good nutrition. She was a very petite little girl up until she started refusing baby food and only eating “table food”, but she’s gained quite a bit of weight lately. She was in the 3rd percentile for weight, but she was perfectly healthy. Now she’s in the 30th percentile and I worry she’s developing bad eating habits. What are some healthy, toddler-friendly meals and snacks that are also easy? I have a 3 weeks old as well so the easier the better!!

Humus and pita bread
low salt, low sugar beans and bread/toast
tuna, pasta, peas and sweetcorn (warm or cold)
scrambled eggs and toast/bagel
poached eggs
steamed or boiled carrots, rice, peas, chicken (warm or cold)
Dinner:
Fish (de boned) (cod is good as not a strong flavour), mashed potoes, veggies, parsley sauce
Chicken/beef/pork/lamb, mashed potatoes, veggies and gravey
Jacket potatoes, low fat cheese (as your concerned for her weight-or full fat), low salt and sugar beans
Thick lentil soups or stew with bread
Lasagne or spag bol
pasta pene
cottage pie with veg
Fish cakes, potoes and veg
Puddings:
Fruit smoothies (good for extra milk)
Banana’s/peaches/plums and custard
Strawberry flan
youghurt
Fruit Triffle
Mixed fruit platter
At her age you can give her almost anything, just watch the salt and sugar levels. try to use raw ingredients instead of shop bought pre made meals

The other day, my husband and I attended our nephew’s birthday party. We were getting ready to eat and my SIL asked if my daughter, who is 14 months old, is allowed to have pizza. I said no. The last time we gave her pizza, she choked on it and turned blue. My SIL’s daughter chimed up “No mom, she’s not allowed to have ANYHTING”, in a really snotty way. My SIL then proceeded to give my daughter pizza. My daughter, yet again, choked. Then my SIL started giving my daughter straight juice, and I told her it needs to be watered down half and half. She said “I’ve never done that with my kids, and they’re fine.”
I then had my older niece (2 kids), my SIL, their friends, and a few other people start harassing me saying “I never gave my child baby food, they went straight to table food”.
It was disgusting, because there was a really chunky 6 month old eating pizza there, and all these kids, my SIL’s, my older niece’s kids, and the other kids are all really chubby.
I don’t want my daughter to end up with weight problems and childhood obesity. I have introduced foods slowly. She is on table foods, but only when it is appropriate. If we have something she cannot have, she still gets baby food.
I felt very angry and embarassed for what my family did. They completely disregarded me and my daughter’s health. It really upsets and angers me, because it’s not the first time they’ve done it. When my daughter was 3 months old, my SIL gave her a freezie!! Last week, my SIL also gave my daughter KFC!!
I don’t want to come across as a stuck-up b**** of a mother, but I want to keep my daughter healthy and stay away from unhealthy and sugary foods.
How can I bring this up to them without coming across as a stuck-up b****? Am I overreacting?
Regarding the sleep issue, I think it’s great to have kids on a set schedule once they hit a certain age. My daughter is on a schedule and I told my mom to keep her on it, don’t let her sleep past 4pm or you’ll have her up until midnight. My mom didn’t believe me, and she learned the hard way. My daughte stays on her schedule now.

I had some vegan cheese that I used in a pizza, put it in the freezer for over a week, yesterday took it out and put it in the refrigerator part so it would defrost. Took it out today and it’s a little soggy. Is it still good to use?

I would say about 2 years.
It’s frozen! seriously there can be no bacteria growth of any sort. Look at the shelf life on any frozen food you can find. At least 2 years minimum. Might be a little freezer burnt, but totally safe.

I don’t need to lose weight, but I would like to lower my body fat percentage. (It’s at 20% right now)
I guess I’m what most people consider “skinny fat.” I’m thin, but not very toned and I’m pretty “soft” looking. I eat very healthy, but I don’t know what to do when it comes to exercise.
What can I do?
Note: I do not have a access to a gym.
I have 1, 3 and 5 pound weights; 2.5 pound ankle weights, a bike (not stationary) and a trampoline

Cardio – lots of cardio! Go out for a long bike ride. Go for a variety of fitness videos such as Tae Bo. If you don’t own any you can buy a few, rent them from many places (even netflix, and if you get a membership with them you can stream other fitness videos from them online), or ask around – I bet MANY of your friends have a collection of them. Anything that gets you breathing a bit harder and makes you sweat for at least 20 minutes a day 5 days a week. This will help bring down the amount of fat in your body. Toning up is with the muscles. If you try to tone up but not loose the fat you will build muscle under the fat. You want to reduce the fat to show the definition that you work on.

While I was in school it seemed color didn’t matter. Everyone liked everyone for who they were, not what color they were. As an adult in the working world I personally have experienced racism from African Americans and it is very upsetting. I get phrases thrown at me like “white girls” “white people food” or this is one i just recently had been told,”My family doesnt buy white baby dolls “. I feel that it is not right for one race to treat another race they way they complain about being treated. It just seems to me that saying “black people” is a no no to African Americans, but why is ok for them to say “white people”?

I had the same problem. I worked in a pharmacy in a Haitian neighborhood and even though everyone else who worked there was Indian, because I was white they wouldn’t want to listen to me. Then one of the Indian girls would come and say the exact same thing I said and they’d be fine with it.

I’m currently studing Life science at university and nutrition is a large part of the course, or seems to be involed in everything.
Having read some answers in this section there seems to be lots of answers that don’t agree with what I’m being taught. (for example someone stated that the Vegan diet is the most healthy which is completely opposite what it says in my textbooks).
I’m curious about the reasons people changed diet and what they believe the advantages are for these diets.

I was vegan for about a year.
The advantage is it kept my weight down, for the most part
Problem is, when you eliminate all meat and dairy, you still have to get B12…if you don’t, there can be serious repercussions.
I abandoned this diet because for me, there wasn’t enough variety, and many of the products (aside from fresh veggies and fruits) were just too expensive.
I am 56 yrs old and will be running my second marathon March 2 in L.A……..
I have never been healthier.
Low cholesterol, low blood pressure..never colds or flu!
There are more than 10 billion animals killed in veggie production..moles, voles, birds, frogs, squirrels, rabbits
The BLOOD is on everyones hands!–meat eater OR NOT!
Ethical vegans attempt to claim a morally higher ground while ignoring the deaths of all the field animals.
Thus, for me, (and for medications that are developed with animals as models..that most of use in our life time) saying someone is an ethical vegan is an oxymoron, if not completely dishonest and hypocritical.
