How do I find others who are also vegetarian?

Question: How do I find others who are also vegetarian?
I have felt that I need to be with someone who’s vegetarian to show me how to live that lifestyle. It’s hard to understand how to go vegan really. Especially, when the rest of your home doesn’t follow that diet. I have heard of groups that people can join about vegan. Does anyone know what simple and “guides for idiots on how to become vegan” tips you might have? Thank you.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has a Starter Kit which should be helpful-

If you have questions or would like to discuss something, Vegsource is a good place for it-

And Vegetarian Teen is a good site for advice about dealing with family members, friends, going out etc.-

I’m 16 and have been vegetarian since I was 7. It’s actually pretty easy. Now when I look at meat, I’m disgusted by it, it doesn’t even tempt me. No one else in my immediate or extended family is vegetarian, but that’s fine with me. I made a website a few years back that has some helpful recipes
    freewebs.com/angiesvegheads

Also, websites like peta2 or happycow.net have lots of tips, or just google “vegetarian”. I’m sure a lot will come up.
Congratulations on this great life choice and good luck! (:

I know what you mean, I’m a new vegetarian.
No one else in my family is, so it’s very hard. But, luckily, my friend is a vegetarian, only for religious reasons :( She’s gonna stop being a vegetarian after high school, which I find sad since she’s never eaten meat and….yeah, I could go on forever. So I was thinking about becoming a vegan, almost every single day, and when I’d pour my own milk or pick at my eggs or even brush my teeth, I feel horrible.
Anyway, here are my tips for veganism:

    1) It depends if you’re tempted for meat or not. I’m already used to it, I hate even looking at meat. So if you are tempted, eat at different times than the rest of the family. And preferably before, so by the time they start eating you’ll be full already.
    2) Make sure you read the ingredients. A LOT more foods have animals in them than I thought, and like I said, toothpaste too.
    3) When people eat meat (or anything of the sort) around you, you don’t have to be grossed out or ticked off or anything, just finish eating and don’t mind them. People would ask my friend, “Does the smell freak you out?” Lol, idiots. I haven’t really heard of anyone like that, but, y’know, just in case :)
    4) Don’t lose it! Keep site of your goal, try your best, and don’t give up on veganism! It’s the BEST choice and now I feel sorry that I’m not one (yet)!

Hope I helped, and good luck!! =3
