Finger foods for babies?

Question: Finger foods for babies?
My son is 7 months old, and from what I’m reading, he should be starting to eat small pieces of cheese, etc, by picking them up with his fingers. I am making all his food, and I’m starting to not puree it quite as much, so it’s a little chunkier. He’s got 2 teeth so far, with another two about to pop out.

What do you feed your 7 or 8 month old and when did you start? And do you give them “finger foods?”

My son is 9.5 months old. He still mainly eats Puree’s and the only chunks he gets is in the little “Puffs”. He loves these and has to gum them to eat them. When he was 7 months old, I still cut them in 1/2 so he would not gag, because it can scare you! We eat stage 2 foods, but are about to move to stage 3…the catch with my son, though, is he STILL has not teeth!!!

Q&A: How long do babies need a minimum of 24 ounces of formula?

Question: How long do babies need a minimum of 24 ounces of formula?
I can’t get this thru my MIL’s head. She thinks that “food” is OK to give her even if she hasn’t had a bottle. Thankfully my daughter had taken an extra bottle at 3:30 am yesterday or she wouldn’t have even come close to her 24 ounces. (My MIL kept her yesterday) My daughter only got 2 bottles from 3:30 am to 5:00 pm!!!!!!!! AAAHHHH! It just frustrates me that she doesn’t listen to me. She just kept poking in baby food all day. Which is fine as long as she gave her a bottle first. My daughter couldn’t care less about formula if she has had solids.

My daughter will be 7 months old the 27th, and I know one day of not having 24 ounces is not going to hurt her, but I do NOT want it to continue, especially after I told her she needed her bottles first.

So, how long do babies need a minimum of 24 ounces. Is it until they are a year old??

Thanks!! :)

I don’t know about 24 ounces but I know that until they’re a year old they’re supposed to have milk/formula before solids. Tell her the pediatrician reminded you to do that. I know how MILs can be, lol. Good luck!

Practically anything that you eat.

Mostly steamed veggies, sandwiches, pita bread, toast, and tortillas packed with cheeses, veggies and noodles.

I’ve never given (and will never give) my son “baby food”.

Mommies with self-feeding babies…?

Question: Mommies with self-feeding babies…?
…how do you help feed your baby “slippery foods” like avocados and peaches without actually picking up the food and feeding them yourself? My 8 month old is generally really good at feeding herself, but she gets so frustrated at picking up things that are cut up small to prevent choking and are naturally very slippery. Avocados especially, since she loves them so much. I’ve been cutting them lengthwise into “fingers” and letting her take bites while I hold it, but I hate doing this as I want her to be completely independent with feeding. So how do you help them learn how to deal with slippery foods without hindering their independence?
The peaches are a fear of choking…the avocado not so much because it’s so soft. That’s why she’s not successful at picking up the avocado. No matter what size it is, if she tries picking it up herself, it’s too mooshy and slippery and she ends up just smashing it and making herself really mad.

She doesn’t like using a spoon. Everything I give her, and always have, is in finger food form.
K: I know! Who would like an avocado straight up?! My husband eats it straight out of the skin. My daughter goes berserk for it! It gags me, but if she likes it, I’m not going to deny her, it’s just so good for her! :-)

Can you cut them into “fingers” and just let her pick them up and take bites off of them? She’d hold most of it in her fist, gnaw on and take bites from what’s sticking out, get down to her fist, then drop it for a better one. Don’t worry about her choking if she happens to shove the whole thing into her mouth at once. Her body is designed to realize “wait, I can’t chew this; it’s too big!” and to spit it out.

My fish had a baby (babies?)?

Question: My fish had a baby (babies?)?
I noticed a piece of “fish food” had eyes, then found out our platty had a baby.I assume she had more but there’s only one now! I put him in a small tank by himself, but the question is, how do i know is she’s done having babies?
They’re live breeders and she’s staying towards the top.
Also is it possible that my red and black platy(small) got my big gold platy pregnant.

I am not sure how to sex them.

If she doesn’t look flat yet then she’s still got a load to deliver. Once these moms give birth they look really thin.

Why do people with fat, behemoth babies think their baby is better than every body else with smaller babies?

Question: Why do people with fat, behemoth babies think their baby is better than every body else with smaller babies?
My baby girl is 8 months old and she is only 21 pounds (in a sopping wet diaper) and since we’ve moved to Texas, everyone seems to have these whale children and my daughter is the subject of constant ridicule, i.e.: “Do you all feed her ‘nough food?” and “Oh my she’s a tiny lil’ thang.” (insert annoying Texan drawl, which amplifes the annoyingness of it all) Well, let’s see, she was breastfed for 6 months, she’s very mobile and adventerous, she can already walk…so she’s probably burning off the chunks she did have. So sorry about that. Next time I have a baby (if ever) I will get them a pork lard IV and sit them in a play pen all day with heaps of snacks. How do you reply to this assanine crap while being cordial and humane to people?

Is it normal to hate babies?

Question: Is it normal to hate babies?
I’m a 17 year old male. I don’t know why, but for as long as I can remember I’ve hated the little pieces of shits known as babies. I’ve always felt this way but never really thought of it til recently, my mom hired herself a personal assistant a year ago, and she had a baby recently. This baby is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen, its a spoiled brat, its fat, puts everything in its mouth, and cries about everything. its a boy by the way. occasions where Ive been enraged were, once we were at ihop and the mom ordered a full meal for the 8 month old baby… Shouldnt it be eating baby food? This thing ate 3 pancakes, eggs, 3 strips of bacon, grits, and a bowl of lemons (making the most dumbass sour face when he’d eat them.) the whole time I was just sitting there quietly thinking “Why the fuck is this thing eating human food? it should be eating baby food.” another time I was mad is my dog walked in the living room and he smacked my dog in the face! I was praying my dog would bite its fat little arm, but he just growled and walked away. I just have anger towards babies. I would never harm one. I just really hate them. Like why do they get away with everything, why must everyone makes dumbass voices at them and give them loads of attention just for drooling on themselves? what makes them so perfect?.. I’m worried I will feel this way about my baby if I ever become a dad..

Do babies over 9 mos really need to nurse at night? And how do I get her to sleep through the night?

Question: Do babies over 9 mos really need to nurse at night? And how do I get her to sleep through the night?
My daughter just turned 9 months yesterday. Now it’s been said, and I know many things have been said, that babies that are 9 months or older don’t really need to nurse at night, and that they are just waking up to see you.
During the day my daughter is still eating every 2-3 hours. She eats 3 “baby food” meals a day, and has snacks, juice and water through out the day. She she’s getting pleanty of food other than breast milk. She isn’t a chubby baby either, so it’s not like she’s eating too much either.
But my concern is that I have 4 kids, I wake up ever 2 hours or more at night with my daughter and I am exhuasted. I sometimes just bring her into bed with me because I can barely walk into her room, let alone sit there and feed her. She’s been sleeping in her own room since, I don’t know about 4 months old I think. Maybe sooner. I thought that her being in there and away from me at night would help her sleep better at night.
When I put her down for naps and bedtime I have been rocking her, so I don’t just let her cry. I’m not against the cry it out method, I have done it with her but it breaks my heart I guess. So I don’t know if just letting her cry at night will work (because I don’t think I can do it). Mom’s and books say that after 9 months babies don’t need to nurse at night and to just let them cry in the middle of the night and they’ll get the message that your not coming in to feed her.

So…. If babies don’t NEED to nurse at night, how do I get her to break this habbit and how do I get her to sleep better at night?? We have a pretty good bedtime ritual so I don’t think that’s the prob. And she does have a pacifier at night and at naps. (Which I don’t like pacifiers all that much and I was thinking of taking it away at 9 months but she’s gonna be teething soon and don’t think that will be very smart).
I am not wanting to stop feeding her at night because she turned 9 months. My concern is that I am so very tired and that if she really doesn’t need it, then how do I fix this prob.
I’m not the type of mom to just do what a book says, I go by the moment and if I believe it’s the best thing to do then I’ll decide to do that.
Yes she’s REALLY nursing at night. lol She eats a full meal just like during the day. I thought of that too, but she’s eating not just comforting herself. When I put the pacifier in her mouth rather than feeding her, she gets so mad and freaks out. She’s sayin mama I want to eat!! lol

My first son nursed or took a bottle 1-3 times a night until 15 months….

I lessened the number of times getting up by delaying going to him…. To see if he’d just go back to sleep

my second son is 6 months and still nurses 1-4 times a night….

My only advice is to delay going to her… Of course with other kids in the house I know the worry about the other kids waking and having to deal with that….

Good luck… You are not alone

Today my one year old son’s doctor said we are giving him too much “yellow food” such as squash, corn, and carrots. She said this is causing the bottom of his feet to look yellowish. I have never heard of that, my mother has never heard of that, can anybody provide supporting evidence?
