How can I deal with family gatherings and be vegan?
Question: How can I deal with family gatherings and be vegan?
I am currently vegetarian but would like to become vegan. How should I deal with family gatherings (eg weddings, christmas eve, thanksgiving)? I don’t want to offend anyone but I also don’t want to compromise any of my values.

Try to let the cooks know ahead of time that you are a vegan. It is not that hard to make one little meal that’s vegan! If they will not do that, bring food. That is what I do. But them again, it’s your family! They will probably respect you!

Family thinks being vegan is crazy, how do you deal?
Question: Family thinks being vegan is crazy, how do you deal?
I love my vegan lifestyle. It can get a bit annoying when family members think we are weird. I will always stand behind my decision and I try to set a good example. However, it’s still annoying to have family disagree. What do you do to encourage family to be more open-minded? This subject comes to mind because the holidays exacerbate this situation.

It’s not only your family, it’s 95% of the free world. You made the choice to eat a offbeat diet. You will have to put up with opposition until you’re tired of this fad.

How do vegan actors deal with food in scenes?
Question: How do vegan actors deal with food in scenes?
Such as eating food and snacks in a scene…Do they bring their own vegan versions or what? I am curious.
Answer:

They could, and probably do, but some actors eat and spit. Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite is a vegan and he had to ‘eat’ steak in a scene, but you can see him spit it out really quick in his hand. Real casual, so I do know they do that sometimes.

Q&A: How to deal with putting your pet to sleep?
Question: How to deal with putting your pet to sleep?
I had my dog since I was ten years old and when I was eleven my mom was preg and lost the baby so she grew attach to the dog even more. My dog wasn’t the best dog ever because he would bite you if you came close to my mom (even to me) but at the same time of course I loved him because he’s been apart of the family for years, He recently started to go blind and he was coughing a lot so we took him in and we found out that he has a bad heart and he needed to take three medicine a day.
Whenever we tried to take him outside he would shake and cringe because the sun hit his eyes and he couldn’t see even more. My dad even tried to put sun glasses on him but he wouldn’t want to go outside to do his business.
He didn’t want to take his pills or eat and whenever he did eat it was barely anything. Today it was so heart breaking because he ran around the house and was being super playful…i think that itself killed my mom and me.
I feel so damn guilty because my father was the one who pushed us to take him in (he feels guilty for doing it but at the same time my dog was causing my mom stress because he wouldn’t eat and my mom would be late for work trying to get him to eat and she’d worry about him all day)
So I told my mom that we should put him to sleep because he was scared of everything and he stopped eating.
Sadly he had to be so playful before we took him in…he ran around the house like when he was a puppy and that itself was heart breaking.
So how to deal with the lose? What can I do to help my mom and my own guilt because I wish he died on his own. Right now my mom has been crying but she also has been saying stuff like “Go take the dog outside” or “Don’t feed the dog any human food because he hasn’t ate his food”
i know she’s joking but I don’t know how to respond to it.
plus I feel weird going into her room and thinking Dino is still there with her or he’s going to growl at me when I get close to my mom (he was over protective of her)
or even when I would bring him to my room to play with him…we already lost my grandma (who was living with us) and now our dog…it’s just my parents and me now and it feels so lonely and the house feels way too big now.
So how do you deal with the lost?
Also we decided not to get another pet right now but maybe I’ll get a rabbit or a dog once I get my own place, however my mom already said that she can’t deal bonding with another pet. Plus even if she did get one, I don’t think she should get one so soon after our dog is gone.

Whats the big deal about making your own baby food?
Question: Whats the big deal about making your own baby food?
This is not a slam on jarred baby food or mothers that use it, but why is it women think “making your own baby food” is so hard and complicated. I seriously don’t get it. I have seen all sorts of kits to make baby food as well as recipes and it seriously cracks me up.
My son never ate jarred food, he just ate what we ate that he was able to handle and chew up, and that was that, I never found it to be an inconvenience of any sort as I prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day anyway. I never even thought of it as “making my own baby food,” I just thought of it as preparing meals and feeding my family. It was easy enough to slightly adjust our menu to better accommodate our baby if need be, and by that I mean adding an extra veggie or two that I knew he enjoyed, or adding a few less jalapenos to the chili as he doesn’t care for flaming hot foods as muc as my husband and I do/
So anyway, question is, why do women seem to get soo stressed out at the thought of making there own baby food. Do you think its gerber marketing that persuades them to think that baby food is some magical thing that could only be created in a factory, or do you think it is brainwashing from our pediatricians and there guidelines as to what to offer and when, whats your opinion on it?
(I am prepared already for the fact that I am sure this question is going to seriously piss some people off, so bring it…lol, but seriously, I am just curious as to what you take on it is?)
Cali, I hope this didn’t offend you in anyway. You’re doing a great job hun! I bet you hardly have time to eat a meal yourself. Keep up the good work!
Happy to be her mommy,
I am not saying there is anything wrong with jarred food, nor am I bashing any one who uses it.
I have just seen a lot of mother so confused and stressed about how to make there own baby food. I was wondering as to why mothers who are wanting to make there own find it to seem so overwhelming.
What factors may play a role in why women feel that it is so difficult.
If you would have read my very first sentence of my question, it clearly stated that I was not criticizing how you feed your child!
As far as my answer to that last question you are referring to, that women deserved the answer she recieved, as she treats other people with very little respect.
There are clearly very many women who feed there baby jarred food that where able to answer my question civily without becoming offended, because they realize that what I was asking was not a slam on them by any means. And I truely believe what I said to her.
I think no less of other mothers for how they feed their child. No where in my question do I state that!

I think that is is a convenience thing. My sister feed her son what she ate but when she was not hungry and he was or she was out she would use the jars.
I think it is crazy how some people spend hundreds of dollars on those frozen baby foods. I seen them online and could not help but laugh, because all they were was frozen pureed veggies and fruit. Craziness what people waste their money on.
