High fat, low calorie diet?
Question: High fat, low calorie diet?
On my weight loss meal plan, I consume roughly 1500 calories/day, with calories mainly from carbs in fruits and whole grain foods. In conjunction with daily exercise, this has helped me lose weight. However, I have recently changed the plan. Instead of “high carb, low fat”, I’m trying “high fat, low carb”.
Today, for example: I still had 1500 calories, but I also had 50g fat(mostly mono/polyunsaturated). Before, I would’ve limited my intake to 30g fat.
So, my question: Will increasing the fat in my diet while lowering carbs make weight loss harder? Or, because my caloric intake remains the same, will I continue to lose weight? Thanks.

If your overall calories are about the same, there should not be much difference. Just be careful with the unhealthy fats such as saturated. You don’t want a heart attack later on in life. Here are a few tips;
WHEN to eat for losing weight…
• Eat (at least) three times a day.
Because when you eat only once a day, your metabolism gets slower than it already is! That’s the main reason. Sounds funny, but to lose weight… you must eat (the right things, of course)
• Eat low-fat, high-fiber foods such as salads and vegetable pastas.
• Your last meal should be before 18:00. Try.
OK, one apple after 18:00
• Don’t starve
Starvation is not good for losing weight, nor your health.
Starvation is the worse thing you can do in a weight loss diet.
• Try oatmeal instead of cornflakes for breakfast–eating oatmeal can help reduce cholesterol levels, and its high fiber content will keep you full longer.
WHAT to drink for losing weight…
• Drink 6-8 glasses of water every day !
Can be tap, plain, mineral, sparkling. I just love mineral sparkling water!
This improves your bowel, reduces the “hunger” sensation, and hydrates your skin. Your skin will look much better after the first weeks!
Don’t believe the slogan “water makes me fat”. Beside being stupid… you might get into serious troubles with your kidneys.
• Drink ONLY natural juices, freshly squeezed!
Don’t drink Coca Cola, Pepsi, Spite etc. during the diet. Even lite or light versions.
Exercise for losing weight…
• If you want quicker results – exercise would be good.
• Don’t just sit in front of the TV and eat peanuts…
I guarantee THIS won’t work for your weight loss…
• Start a regular exercise program and stick with it. Don’t be afraid of those sweat suits and Lycra pants!
• Start swimming. Swimming is an excellent exercise to get involved with, since it increases blood flow and uses muscles we don’t regularly use. Start a swimming program and try to do it 3 times a week. You will feel excellent and rejuvenated.
• Choose an exercise program that you enjoy, and don’t shun the unconventional. For instance, did you know that regular vigorous dancing is exercise too?
• Also Cardiovascular exercises such as running, jogging, or aerobics will help you lose that unwanted belly fat. Weight training can also help you lose body fat because the more muscle mass you have, the more ability your system has to burn body fat.
Good luck!
Hope this helps.

Q&A: How can I begin a vegetarian diet?
Question: How can I begin a vegetarian diet?
So recently I have become concerned with my diet and would like to become healthy and lean. I would like to begin a vegetarian diet but I do not know where to begin. I became a vegetarian a few months ago. It was a little difficult at first. A lot of my friends weren’t supportive but i stuck with it. The hardest part was going out to eat or stopping for fast food. Depending where you live you’ll need to find a grocery store that sells vege brands. MY favorite is morning star. The boca burgers are pretty good. Three’s faux chicken and beef and sausage. Try that. Make sure you’re still getting protein. I still drink milk and eat eggs. I also started this diet to lose a little weight and feel healthier. I also drink protein shakes and eat protein bars. If you really want to try it, don’t be discouraged. I slipped up a few times and occasionally i crave meat. But it does get easier. And i do feel healthier
good luck!!

Q&A: What is a “low fat diet”?
Question: What is a “low fat diet”?
So I have been told to eat a “low fat diet” by my doctor (due to PSC), and when I asked what that meant he told me that he couldn’t really explain it… >.<
I don't really understand it. Is a low fat diet:
So much fat per meal
So much fat per weight or volume
So much fat per day
I looked up "PSC low fat" and got weird results.
Sites would tell me I shouldn't eat pancakes because of the eggs. (not like there is a whole egg in a pancake or anything like that)
And in another line it would tell me I am recommended to boil eggs then scramble them. seriously wtf.

I dont understand why the doctor suggested low fat, he should have given you a healthy diet plan to follow because although fats can be left out of a diet for a small time leaving them out of your diet for long term is very unhealthy.
Now here is the main thing about diet and why people say low fats are the best diets to follow:
All that matters is calories, you eat over your maintenance level you will gain weight eat below and you will loose, simple, now that its out the way this only matters if you watch your calories (track them on something like FitDay)
Fats are hated because for some weird reason people think fat makes you FAT, I laugh whenever I see this because obviously the poster is uneducated and has no idea about nutrition, like I said above all that matters is calories in vs calories out, now here is why all hate fats:
Fat contains 9 calories per 1 gram
Carbohydrate contains 4 calories per 1 gram
Protein contains 4 calories per 1 gram
This means fat contains almost double the amount of calories as carbohydrates or protein meaning you eat more fat the calories will be higher than eating carbs and protein, since many people dont watch calories you can just say to them eat low fat because when they cut out the fat they are obviously cutting down the calories by a lot and eating less calories without even knowing it.
So to sum it all up, if you are really serious about your diet, watch your calories and eat a healthy amount of fats a good rule of thumb is 1g fat per 1kg of body weigh.
