I do not go to a vegetarian friendly high school?
Question: I do not go to a vegetarian friendly high school?
I am probably the only vegetarian in my school… Should I bring my lunch or should I just eat the very few vegetarian options my school provides?
Juliette D- Actually, I am fairly certain I am the only vegetarian in my school… I am well aware there are millions of other vegetarians, but at the moment, I live in a small place where agriculture, mostly involving cattle, is the dominant profession. Many of the classes offered at this school are ag classes.
Oh, and the vegetarian options I metioned consist of fruit… and fruit.
I only recently became a vegetarian. I move around constantly in the US and overseas due to my parents’ jobs, so I have met several vegetarians, but I never knew them that well. I was just wondering what most vegetarians in school do for lunch.

Vegans: do you feel there is enough choice of vegan friendly food to buy in supermarkets?
Question: Vegans: do you feel there is enough choice of vegan friendly food to buy in supermarkets?
Just out of interest. Is there anything that you might like? Anything perhaps to take to work with you, such as vegan butter in small pots?
Answer:
Answer by Sir Network
It really depends on the supermarket, as some have far better choices than others. Around here, Sunflower Market and Whole Foods are amazing. However, all could do better. I have no idea what more I could need, as there is now amazing vegan cheese (Daiya, Teese), dozens of brands of vegan lunch meats and quick protein (Field Roast, Tofurky, Boca, etc), and plenty of choices.
Hm… I guess more vegan pre-made sauces and salad dressings would be nice, and more vegan items in the deli would be great.
By the way, Earth Balance is a vegan “butter” (margarine) that is healthy and sold in almost all grocery stores.

What products sold at ulta are vegan friendly?
Question: What products sold at ulta are vegan friendly?
I know a lot are cruelty free but I’m wondering which brands they have that don’t contain animal bi products. I’ve heard Smashbox is vegan and I know some Urban Decay products are.
And don’t lecture about veganism b/c a lot of people on here do, I’m not vegan I just prefer plant based products.
Answer:
Answer by Skeptic
Products that are ultra vegan friendly don’t leave much profit for corporate shareholders:
Beans
Brown rice/Whole grains
Whole fruits
Whole vegetables
Because of additives, I’d avoid:
Milk/Dairy – Genetically modified bovine grown hormones, antibiotics
Meat, Fish, Eggs
Refined Carbs
Why would you want to buy processed foods? By their very nature they are less healthy for you.

Can a vegetarian make it through boot camp? Is military life after boot camp vegetarian friendly at all?
Question: Can a vegetarian make it through boot camp? Is military life after boot camp vegetarian friendly at all?
I’m just wondering if a vegetarian could make it through bootcamp without eating meat.. Are there enough meatless options to nourish someone?
Also, is military life at all friendly to a vegetarian lifestyle or will I just get laughed at?
I will eat meat if necessary but I usually try to avoid it.

Yes, they have the salad bar for those who want it.
You can eat as much lettuce as you want/need.
They’ve also got fresh fruit in the dining halls.
Why wouldn’t military life be good for a vegetarian? No more or less for omnivores.
They make vegetarian MREs, which tend to be the best ones anyway. Pasta and sauce was the best one, IMO.

Should a vegetarian have to go to a non-vegetarian friendly restaurant just to make her boyfriend happy?
Question: Should a vegetarian have to go to a non-vegetarian friendly restaurant just to make her boyfriend happy?
What’s worse: A) a guy asking his vegetarian girlfriend to go to a non-vegetarian friendly restaurant (Benihana’s) where she will most likely vomit or not be able to eat because of the horrid smells of several types of dead animals being cooked right in front of her; or B) a girl not going to her boyfriend’s favorite restaurant?
Answer:
Answer by pink_panda96
Ok so don’t take this personal- I’m not a vegetarian but if I were dating a guy who was I’d try to compromise. Go to his fave place, yes maybe gag and whatever but then he has to return the favor and go to your fave place in return. My bf loves seafood and I vomit at the smell (basically) but we take turns and accept eachothers likes and dislikes as much as we hate certain foods or restaurants

How vegetarian friendly is your city?
Question: How vegetarian friendly is your city?
I read a lot of questions from people who have a hard time finding vegetarian and vegan options in grocery stores and restaurants, so I’ll ask you, how vegetarian friendly is your city?
Mine is pretty accomodating. I gained some weight when I first moved here because there were so many vegan goodies and I wanted to try them all!
@ hello_be_happy, yeah I’m a student at UC Berkeley. It pretty much rocks here.
There are so many good answers…I think I’m going to let this go to voting.

The Washington DC area is great. I’m not a vegetarian but love eating vegetarian fare. There are lots of vegetarian restaurants that are actually very good and it’s not your usual Indian cuisine either. There’s a fabulous Asian (Chinese/Japanese/fusion) restaurant that has dishes in both vegan and vegetarian options. All the out-of-town vegetarians rave about it and say it’s their favorite restaurant anywhere. Check out their website. Maybe you’ll get a chance to eat there someday!

Sweet Potato Casserole with Pecan Topping
Note: This isn’t a fat-free recipe, though it does have less fat than other recipes of its kind.
4 large or 6 medium sweet potatoes, cooked (I used a pressure cooker) and peeled
2 tablespoons margarine
1/4 cup soy creamer or soymilk
1/4 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Topping:
1/4 cup margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup unbleached white flour
3/4 cups chopped pecans
2 tablespoons maple syrup
Preheat the oven to 350 F and spray a 2 quart casserole dish with non-stick spray (or wipe with canola oil).
Mash the sweet potatoes with the margarine until smooth. Add the soy creamer, orange juice, vanilla, sugar, maple syrup, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Pour into prepared casserole dish.
Mix the topping ingredients together until well-combined. Spread or sprinkle over the casserole and bake for 45 minutes or until hot throughout.
