Ive recently just lost 25 pounds and only want to lose 7 more for my goal weight and its getting really difficult for it to come off. I eat between 1300 and 1500 calories a day with an hour of exercise, yet im not making much progress. Any suggestions?

The last 5 (or in your case 7) lbs are always the hardest. Try mixing up your routine a little. If you always do the same exercise try something different at least a couple of times during the week. If you’ve fallen into a rut with regards to what you eat for breakfast or lunch try to change it up a little (while saying around the same calorie count.

I may have a mild case of PCOS and am having reactive hypoglycemia. What is the treatment?
Question: I may have a mild case of PCOS and am having reactive hypoglycemia. What is the treatment?
I went to see an endocrinologist and he thinks based on my symptoms I have mild PCOS. I noticed this month I was particularly feeling crappy and ‘out of it’ especially after I ate. I’ve tested my blood sugar after meals and although it wasn’t technically hypoglycemia (below 50 or 60), it was STILL low considering it was after a full meal. I’ve tested my sugar 3 times after meals and have been in the 90s, 80s, and even 60s once. I have never been diagnosed as a diabetic, have had normal blood glucose levels and even a normal GTT test. I’m not overweight at all, try to exercise as much as I can (although the last couple months I slacked off more). My endocrinologist essentially said “Don’t get fat.” This just doesn’t seem like an adequate answer considering that many thin and even underweight women suffer from PCOS?
Does anyone have information about this or a good online support site to refer me to? I’m very nervous that I will end up with diabetes or infertility problems or something because I don’t know how to manage this.
Also the blood sugar levels that were in the 90s and 80s when I tested, that was AFTER I compensated for the crappy feeling by drinking juice. So I technically don’t know what it was after the meal, but I’d assume it was lower.

Forgot to mention why he thinks I’m mild PCOS: I have documented ovarian cysts from my OB/GYN, and problems with adult acne (especially this month it went crazy)

manage your glucose levels.
try to keep them as stable as possible.
and hypoglycemia is below 70..at least thats what it is for my brother, and he’s a type 1 diabetic. 60 or 50 is very low!! don’t let it get to that point.
have a glucagon on hand and let your family, friends, co workers, etc know how to administer it. it should be used for when your blood sugar is very low and you are unconcious. ask your endocrinologist.
and dont worry about becoming infertile or a diabetic – the future is undefined! (:
I am not a doctor. I am just giving my best advise.

5 year old having fits in store??
Question: 5 year old having fits in store??
My 5 year old son has had very bad fits in the store. My 13 & 11 year old were nothing like him at his age. Yesterday, We were in Wal-Mart, And he wanted some lunch and i said ” We’ll get it when mommy’s done getting what she needs.” So, He threw him-self on the floor and yelled ” YOU NEVER FEED ME! YOU HATE ME!” So i picked him up, put him in the cart and told him if he acts like a baby,he’ll be treated like one. While i was picking something up off the floor, he Jumped out of the cart and ran to some lady saying ” MY MOMMY NEVER FEEDS ME!”. I was very embarresed by this. I do feed my child, He just wants and wants. I told him if he stops his whineing, i’ll buy him a toy. He said ” I don’t need your toy. I need FOOD!”. So i got my 11 & 13 year old to take him to subway in the mall for a sandwich. So i thought, I can get peace for at least 10 minutes. When they got back, I was still shopping and my 5 year old screamed ” I WANT A TOY!”. I took him to the boys’ aisle, and he picked out
at least a 30 dollar toy, i think it was a red rider scooter or whatever. I told him mommy can’t buy that, so he picked out a 10$ Kid tough digital camera and when we got home he shouted ” THIS PIECE OF CRAP!” I put him in time out and he threw the camera at me. I’m in deep anger right now. What can i do? I’ve tried taking away toys, anger classes, time outs, I’m at the end. What can i do??

Q&A: Vegans: Is there no danger from having a B12 deficiency?
Question: Vegans: Is there no danger from having a B12 deficiency?
Tell that to this poor baby:
“Two strict vegans have gone on trial in France charged with “neglect or food deprivation” after the death of their breastfed 11-month-old daughter who was found to be suffering from vitamin deficiency.
Sergine and Joel Le Moaligou called an ambulance to their home in the village of Saint-Maulvis – 90 miles north of Paris – in March 2008 after their daughter Louise became listless. By the time paramedics arrived, the baby had died.
The police were alerted after the ambulance crew noticed the baby was pale and thin and a doctor refused to issue a death certificate. A postmortem showed the child, who had been fed only on her 37-year-old mother’s milk, weighed 5.7kg when she should have been about 8kg.
She was also suffering from deficiency of vitamins A and B12, which may have left her susceptible to infection. She died of a pneumonia-related illness.
Medical experts told the court in Amiens that the vitamin deficiency could have been caused by an unbalanced diet. While anxious not to call into question the couple’s lifestyle, Anne-Laure Sandretto, the deputy prosecutor, admitted: “The problem with a vitamin B12 deficiency could be linked to the mother’s eating habits.”
The parents, who also have a 13-year-old daughter who was not found to be suffering from any deficiencies, said they became vegan after seeing a TV programme about “how animals were taken to abattoirs”, said the mother’s lawyer, Stephane Daquo.
At the time of their daughter’s death, they were running an organic food business and refused to eat any animal products. Daquo said they had a mistrust of traditional medicine and preferred to treat their children’s complaints with advice from books.
“The couple did not follow the doctor’s advice to take the baby to hospital when they went for her nine-month checkup and found she was suffering from bronchitis and was losing weight,” he said. Instead they treated her with cabbage poultices, mustard and camphor and washed her with earth and clay instead of giving her baths, the court heard.
Daquo said the couple had been reading “the wrong things at the wrong moment”. “They preferred to use recipes [treatment] based on clay or cabbage poultices that they got from their books,” he said.
Patrick Quenel, lawyer for the father, whose business has gone into liquidation, said the couple were “completely aware of the mistakes they made”.
They have been charged with “neglect or food deprivation followed by death” and face a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison if convicted. The hearing is expected to last until Friday.”
Oh, wait. You can’t tell the baby about it. She’s dead. Dead because her mom dididn’t take a B12 supplement!
ADDED: B12 is NOT available to humans in nori or chorella. Only, as I have pointed out over and over, in some sort of fake supplement form: shots, pills or manufactured and added to highly processed foods.
“…Contrary to rumors, there are no reliable, unfortified plant sources of vitamin B12, including tempeh, seaweeds, and organic produce. The overwhelming consensus in the mainstream nutrition community, as well as among vegan health professionals, is that plant foods do not provide vitamin B12, and fortified foods or supplements are necessary for the optimal health of vegans, and even vegetarians in many cases…”

lower cholesterol, higher energy & duration during the day, elimination of ‘free radicals’ and carcinogens and steroids. Also helps clear the system of pollutants and chemicals. I have definitely benefited from having a higher vegetable/fruit intake. I’m not a complete vegan (I just LOVE a good burger) but I have cut way back. Its also been beneficial to my pocketbook as I have cut back on my grocery bill by not buying as much meat.

Question: HELP!! How to get over having really low self esteem!?
Hey everyone, I met this really cool guy online and he asked me out on a date (my first date EVER and I’m 20)!! The thing is, I am really insecure and I have this strong urge to say no because I keep asking myself
a) why does he like me
b) he won’t think I’m pretty when he meets me
c) I’m too fat for him
etc etc etc
All my life, I’ve grown up hearing things like “you’re fat” or “you’re not pretty” etc from my mom, dad, and other family members and I just don’t know how to get over being so insecure anymore.
Here’s a picture of me… could you tell me if my parents are right? Am I too ugly and should I change myself before going out on any dates with a guy? Thank you!

You are so pretty! Your family was just being weird when they were saying those things to you. If you really like this dude just go out and have fun with him like he was one of your friends, adding in some flirting always helps
Since you meet him online make sure it’s safe. Have fun with it!
