Answer by greenguy415
I was a vegetarian for about 10 months and would like to get back to it again myself. I felt so much healthier…did it right through the holidays too. Thanksgiving was easy, I didn’t realize this till that year, but the turkey is the ONLY meat on the table at my grandmas! I still cheated a bit in the fact that the stuffing was made in the turkey, but didn’t really contain any meat itself. It’s important to not get crazy, if some meat slips in now and again, it won’t hurt anything.
My first suggestion would be, if you don’t already, is change your drinking habits, drink only water, milk, tea and coffee. Soda pop will actually make you craze foods that aren’t good for you. Next be ready for some ridicule and resistance, especially from family. Mine were a pain, at first I slowed down on eating meat, limiting it, like once a week kind of thing and when I did eat meat, they were like ‘I thought you were a vegetarian!’
I wish you the best of fortune with this!

How can I substitute foods into my new raw and vegan lifestyle without missing out on my favorites?
Question: How can I substitute foods into my new raw and vegan lifestyle without missing out on my favorites?
I’m getting into a raw and vegan lifestyle but sometimes miss my favorite flavors. I found a few good substitutes for healthy raw food and vegan foods here http://www.rawontheroad.com/raw-foods-for-weight-loss-raw-food-substitutes/ but want to know if anyone out there has other favorite vegan or raw food substitutes.

I know this answer won’t completely resolve your question, but I think a lot of the best recipes are ones that aren’t pretending to be something else. For instance, in Veganomicon, a vegan cookbook I highly recommend, they have a recipe for Pumpkin Baked Ziti, which is delicious! And it resembles nothing in the Carnivore World! haha
Other than that though, the internet and health food stores are a good source for other substitutes. Good luck!

Is it true that the more estrogen you have in your body the more.. it will turn into testorone?
Question: Is it true that the more estrogen you have in your body the more.. it will turn into testorone?
So, yeah! Let me tell you this. Since I don’t like the “female” species, I think they’re freaking stupid, psychotic and have serious low self esteem and lack intelligence. If you don’t have a “brain” then why are you even a “doctor”?
So. Yeah! I was seeing this gyno and she put me on 10 different kinds of birth control pills, I had no idea that’s why I’m so “fat”. Birth control pills make you gain weight!!
So. anyways!! Where was I. I had no idea that birth control that has estrogen can turn into testorone inside the human body. So, here I’am getting unwanted hair and ganning tons of weight plus have pcos that increases and makes you gain weight.
So.. from a “GOOD” Doctor I found out that…. I guess estrogen if there’s to much in the body can all turn into testorone.
What do you guys think about that?

Question: What is a main meal that can be easily altered into a vegetarian meal?
Hi, I’m having a dinner party and one of my friends is a vegetarian. I don’t want to cook a completely separate meal for her and think some of the people will be expecting meat in their meal. So I need a dinner party style meal that can be easily altered into a vegetarian meal =)

Main dish of Rice, zucchini, soy beans, eggplant, lemon juice, mushrooms.
When it’s all done, add meat of choice (flank steak pieces, cut up sausage, whatever you like).
Make sure you put some aside with no meat.
Some vegetarians will not eat food that has been in the same pan with the meat.

A woman believed to be the mother of the three has been arrested, a state prosecutor’s office spokesman said.
The three were not stillborn, police said, but the cause of death and the infants’ ages have not been released.
There have been several similar cases in Germany recently, including a woman jailed for killing her eight children.
The babies appeared to have died shortly after birth and were in the freezer wrapped in plastic bags, the prosecutor’s office said.
Post-mortems are to be conducted to establish the cause of death, it added.
’1988′
One of the bags contained a newspaper from 1988, indicating the babies may have died that year, AFP news agency quoted police investigator Herbert Fingerhut as saying.

Officials said a couple with three children aged 18 to 24 lived at the house.
Two of the couple’s adult children found the babies when they were looking for something to eat while their parents were out, police said.
“They both decided to get a pizza and realised that the freezer had to be cleaned up because it was full of out-of-date food,” Mr Fingerhut said.
“It was then that they discovered the first bag.”
One of the couple’s sons went with his parents to the police, who then searched the house and arrested the 44-year-old woman, who is believed to also be the mother of the three babies, German media have reported.
It is not the first such case in Germany.
Two years ago, the body of a dead toddler was found in the fridge of his drug-addicted parents in the northern city of Bremen.
Also in 2006, a woman in eastern Germany was sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing eight of her babies.
She had buried them in flower pots and a fish tank in the garden of her parents’ home near the Polish border.

Q&A: Can anyone translate this paragraph into simple terms for me?
Question: Can anyone translate this paragraph into simple terms for me?
I was told to read a particular chapter to prepare for an exam and within the chapter it says this, but I just cannot make make any sense of it. Im not very good with words. Could anyone help me understand what its saying or even just give me a summery of what it means? Thanks, here’s the passage:
It is surely more than coincidence that societal changes in attitudes to female body shape and dieting have occurred at the same time that diagnoses of anorexia appear to have multiplied (Burch 1978). Moreover, a fear of fatness and preoccupation with body weight are relatively recent phenomena in anorexia (Russell, 1986). In fact weight-related fears in those diagnosed as anorexic were not reported outside of France until the 1930s (Habbermas 1989) and were rarely mentioned in the literature on anorexia before the 1960s (Casper, 1983), the decade in which the ideal of the thin female body significantly increased its hold in contemporary Western culture. The specificity in the distribution of diagnoses of anorexia in terms of sex, age, ethnicity and socio-economic class, as well as its recent increase (Garner et al, 1983; Hsu 1984), also suggests a cultural influence. Anorexia appears to be a largely Western phenomenon (Edwards-Hewitt and Gray, 1993) and a problem associated in particular with young, usually white, “middle-class” women. Some research, however, does indicate that diagnoses of eating disorders including anorexia are spreading across all socio-economic classes and ethnic groups (Pumariega et al. 1984; Edwards-Hewitt and Gray, 1993). Asian English schoolgirls, for example, have been found by some to have higher EAT (Eating attitudes test) scores than their Caucasian counterparts (Mumford and Whitehouse, 1988) and “eating disorders” have been found in women of all ethnic backgrounds (Dolan et al, 1990). Interestingly, it has also been found that “eating attitudes” in young Hispanic American women were correlated with “acculturation” to American culture (Pumariega, 1986). Thus, the spread of “eating disorders” to all socio-economic and ethnic groups might be understood in terms of an increasing dissemination of Western cultural ideals of female beauty/thinness and dieting (Edwards-Hewitt and Gray, 1993). The pernicious effects of the diet and fashion industries on many women’s lives (and deaths) cannot be underestimated. Yet, it would be both superficial and simplistic to attempt to explain anorexia only in terms of cultural pressures for slimness, to characterize anorexia as a “slimmer’s” disease (Malson, 1992). Many socio-cultural explanations of anorexia are, however, limited to a documentation of the increased emphasis on a thin body and the increased prevalence of dieting in contemporary society. As such they tend to rely on a notion of internalization in which “anorexics” are conceptualized as “super-dieters” (e.g Polivy and Herman, 1985), as over-adhering to omnipresent cultural ideals of feminine beauty as thinness. They therefore tend to focus on thinness and dieting to the exclusion of other aspects of anorexia and female subjectivity, and without exploring the complex cultural and political significances of female slenderness. For anorexia is also associated with low self-esteem, with a lack of sense of self, of independant autonomy and control, as well as with a “fear of fat” or “relentless pursuit of thinness” (eg Bruch 1973). It has been described as “a communicative disorder” which is experienced as a means of taking control over one’s body, as a pseudo-solution to intra-and interpersonal difficulties (Bruch 1978; Caskey 1989). And culture may also play a role in the “promotion” of such difficulties. The cultural dynamics of our Western post-industrial society may foster many of the psychological conflicts around gender, identity, self-esteem and autonomy (Appels 1986) that have been associated with anorexia (Malson 1995).

not eating is not the main problem. its the thinking and the action. hence its psychological. its the mind that destroy the body
media always portray women as slim so it gets ingrained into our heads so we starve. easily influenced. also they have low self esteem.
used to be a white only but now spreading to other groups.
[peculiar to usa. europe is almost non-existent. japan is zero and yet female are slim and thin - they have the 80% rule - stop eating when the stomach is 80% full]

Q&A: Help with releasing a captive Pond Turtle back into the Pond after 2 years of captivation?
Question: Help with releasing a captive Pond Turtle back into the Pond after 2 years of captivation?
My nephew brought 2 baby Pond Turtles home 2 summers ago, when they were just 1/2″ in diameter. One died a few weeks later, but the other one survived and has been kept in a 15″ x 12″ aquarium with 6 inches of filtered water and a rock to climb upon. (South Jersey)
It has grown so much (9″ long) that it can no longer swim in its aquarium, it just sits in the water, and there is no room for a rock to climb onto. My sister’s husband refuses to purchase a larger, more appropriate tank for it. Being an animal activist, I am deeply upset about this and think that this is cruel. They do let the turtle run loose in their enclosed patio a few hours a day, and it cuddles up to my brother in laws golf club (wood), probably thinking it’s another turtle. It is fed “turtle food” from the pet store (little pellets).
My sister and I want to release it back into the pond it came from. What would be the proper way to do this? Would it’s instincts take over and will it survive?

that is fine, much better for him. I have 2 that are 36 yrs old and for 25 yrs in a tank, then 5 yrs in a kiddy pool and 6 yrs in a pond..they love it. They stack themselves on top each other sunbathing..its so funny.
email me for pic’s..
they will be so happy. Make sur the fish in the pond are ok to be eaten cause thats what they dine on and green leafy lettuce, like romaine, butter lettuce, spinach. I have tossed a bird cuttle bone in the water for the added calcium they need for a healthy turtle.
Just drop him in and watch him go.
I once a week go to the grocery store and the guys in produce give me a big box of greens..I go to our neighborhood pond and feed all these little sliders and some are real sick so I toss them a dried tubiflex worm cube, there must be over 100. People come all the time and drop them in cause they just don’t want them anymore..
