Most everyday people simply call it a decrease in metabolism. If your calorie requirement falls, it’s increasingly difficult to take in few enough calories to lose weight. This can be quite a frustration and challenge to the person trying to shed some pounds.

So, while it’s nice to have an equation that works in the lab, the 3500-calorie question is elusive to many of us. Unfortunately, our bodies don’t work like a balance sheet or checkbook — what goes in and comes out doesn’t always calculate. If it were that simple, the diet industry wouldn’t be worth the billions of dollars that’s being spent annually by folks in search of permanent weight loss.

Basically, if I eat 1000 calories of carbs a day and excercise will I lose weight? I obviously don’t JUST eat carbs, but they’re filling, so they’re a lot of my meals. I mean, if I eat mostly carbs, but my overall calorie intake is low?

Yeah, it’s possible but you’re going to lose muscle and end up looking “skinny fat.” That’s even worse than being fat.

I went to the doctors a few weeks ago. He told me that i needed to lose weight; that this is why im getting sick. I didn’t really start feeling over weight until that moment. Of course i knew ive gained a few pounds over the months. i didnt feel like im 160 somethng pounds but its reality. im almost 17 years old and im 5’8. what is the healthy weight range? Every girl now in high school seems so thin; sometimes im tired of being the “fat” one…I want to look cute in the clothes too! and i want to feel good about myself. this has really taken control of my self esteem. Every morning since that appointment; i get dressed and look in the mirror and just think in my head; wow ive really gain weight; please help!

Your serious answer is just to avoid trans-fats — stay away from Dunkin’ Donuts and junk food and eat right. It’s THAT simple. Anything advertised on TV, is usually awful for you (fact). There’s a ton of secrets in life — for you to discover on your own. One of them is, your weight and your appearance don’t matter as much as you believe — and do your best, be your best to look the way, YOU feel comfortable. Being 30-lbs overweight can be downright hot to many guys, believe it or not (at that) — if this is your concern. Your weight is right in line for your size, as you already know (I’m sure). Your are going to actually out-weight boys your age – because boys usually don’t have fat-stored the way HEALTHY girls do (at your age). It’s natural, by the way — because nature has you readying for motherhood and not doing so for men… (that’s nature, not society — we really shouldn’t think about procreating until you’re married & can afford a stable home life).

Don’t dress or behave for other people. Make yourself better for health and read/study more than anyone around you — believe me, that’s where self-esteem comes from ACHIEVEMENT and the bank account.

If I lose 40 kilos by July will I have a reasonably fat stomach? Or will I need to do a heap of toning exercises? Someone told me my stomach will STILL be fat even if I lose the weight if I don’t do toning.

Alright, I’ve gotten a lot taller recently. I’m 13, 5’11″, and weigh around 185. I don’t LOOK like I weigh that much, cause I’m 5’11″. But one thing I notice is that from my hips to my thighs I am “wider” than I should be. So, I was wondering how to lose some weight, and hopefully lose a couple of pants sizes, which is currently about a 36. I’m a 3rd degree black belt in tae kwon do. sorry, forgot to mention. Try switching out the white bread, rice, and potatoes for whole grains breads and brown rice and sweet potatoes. Eat foods rich in color because they pack the most nutrients and antioxidents. Things like this can easily take off and keep off the weight. 20 min of cardio a day works best. Try walking, dancing, jogging, just leep it fun and new. It will work and it’s healthy for your body.

Ive been doing “8 minute abs”
on youtube. look up fitforthesummer also on youtube and click on the account named that. She has videos favorited i do those all the time and she has some really good tips on her page.

swimming, jump roping, hoola hooping, ice skating, running, racing, pogo sticks, scooters, bike riding, bad mitton, volleyball, football, any other sport. Hop scotch, watching Tv and doing sit ups, dancing, dancing, dancing? haha

and umm:

It is possible. i think.

if you REALLY try at it. just dont let any extra pounds get in the way..

just try light weights maybe..

– losing weight —
in the morning if you can wake up pretty early, thats when you have the most energy! drink a bottle of water plug in your ipod or whatever and listen to music as you run! — thats my first step.

Then you go home, eat a really healthy breakfast like fruit salad or something thats nutritonal.

After that you pretty much clean the house or whatever maybe take a walk while its cool, walk your pet dog, if you have one, i like to spend the morning doing that while its not so hot outside!

After that you wait a few hours being active as can be, then you relax a little and do some sit ups and lift weights to your own schedule… and your own statistics like weight height goals.. or whatever.. thats what i usually do! And then i like to stretch at the beginning of the day.. haha

MORE TIPS:

chew gum – sugar free. It makes you not snack because if you chew it, you dont want to snack because then you will have to spit out your gum! works for me..

EXTRA: breathing for an hour burns 60 calories, so thats a little lift off your chest haha
and sleeping is the same rate :)

excersise at least 60 minutes a day if you can :)

hey, you know what? The most unexpensive weight loss thing to do, is to try to burn more calories than you eat, dont eat unhealthy like a 500 calorie diet! All that will do is make you sick, you NEED to be healthy to lose weight properly. Im trying to lose weight too! So basically here are some tips to speed up your metabolism: Drink 1-3 glasses of green tea a day
Try and eat Chilli peppers somehow, ((chilli DUH )) they help.
8 classes of water a day

the more active you are, the faster your metabolism will grow to be.

did you know that breathing for an hour burns 60 calories all on its own? And SLEEP is very important, try to go to sleep on time and get your ages average amount of sleep,. ask your doctor what a healthy weight for you is, and then after you have reached that goal do sit ups and crutches – among many other core excersises, Run to slim out, and make sure you burn more calories than you eat – had to repeat that!

Fruits and veggies are REALLY low in calories and FULL of nutrition. If you like Tacos? Ditch the hard shell, maybe try a taco salad.. without the shell of course! Lettuce with meat is good, but PLEASE try mixing it with turkey and beef so that it isnt all fat. Chicken salad is good, you want the protein but you dont want fried anything really, once in a while if fine but remember – YOU HAVE TO BURN OFF THOSE EXTRA CALORIES. Excersises excersise excersise. Dont over do it – dont starve yourself, be moderate and stay active. GOOGLE: 100 ways to burn 100 calories, their are some pretty cool things you can do!

Stay away from starchy and high carb foods – mostly white things. Bread is a bad, so try to stick to thin, HIGH in fiber, slices :)

you can google all the stuff and before you know it you will feel so good about it all and IM actually excited to start working out and all that, just because I know what it will do for me!

Here are a few tips;

WHEN to eat for losing weight…

• Eat (at least) three times a day.
Because when you eat only once a day, your metabolism gets slower than it already is! That’s the main reason. Sounds funny, but to lose weight… you must eat (the right things, of course)
• Eat low-fat, high-fiber foods such as salads and vegetable pastas.
• Your last meal should be before 18:00. Try.
OK, one apple after 18:00
• Don’t starve
Starvation is not good for losing weight, nor your health.
Starvation is the worse thing you can do in a weight loss diet.
• Try oatmeal instead of cornflakes for breakfast–eating oatmeal can help reduce cholesterol levels, and its high fiber content will keep you full longer.

WHAT to drink for losing weight…

• Drink 6-8 glasses of water every day !
Can be tap, plain, mineral, sparkling. I just love mineral sparkling water!
This improves your bowel, reduces the “hunger” sensation, and hydrates your skin. Your skin will look much better after the first weeks!
Don’t believe the slogan “water makes me fat”. Beside being stupid… you might get into serious troubles with your kidneys.
• Drink ONLY natural juices, freshly squeezed!
Don’t drink Coca Cola, Pepsi, Spite etc. during the diet. Even lite or light versions.

Exercise for losing weight…

• If you want quicker results – exercise would be good.
• Don’t just sit in front of the TV and eat peanuts…
I guarantee THIS won’t work for your weight loss…
• Start a regular exercise program and stick with it. Don’t be afraid of those sweat suits and Lycra pants!
• Start swimming. Swimming is an excellent exercise to get involved with, since it increases blood flow and uses muscles we don’t regularly use. Start a swimming program and try to do it 3 times a week. You will feel excellent and rejuvenated.
• Choose an exercise program that you enjoy, and don’t shun the unconventional. For instance, did you know that regular vigorous dancing is exercise too?
• Also Cardiovascular exercises such as running, jogging, or aerobics will help you lose that unwanted belly fat. Weight training can also help you lose body fat because the more muscle mass you have, the more ability your system has to burn body fat.
