I think you are mixing up veganism with some sort of wheat free vegetarian diet.
“The word ‘veganism’ denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to end the idea of animals as property and exclude all forms of intentional exploitation of, use of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing, research or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, including people and the environment.
In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.”
Generally if you eat a well balanced diet you can be quite healthy. Plenty of dark leafy greens and fruits plus legumes and nuts and you should be fine. However that is just for a diet.
There is no “strict” or “non-strict” veganism there just is the above definition. You either are vegan or aren’t yet vegan just like someone is either pregnant or not pregnant. It’s not an attack just a factual statement.
This should give you the info to help start off veganism a lot easier:
Here is a list of animal ingredients to avoid:

More things to avoid:
Animals as clothes:
Leather, skins, furs, wool, silk, down, feathers…
Animals as entertainment:
Circuses, rodeos, zoos, aquariums, animal fights, animal races, hunting…
Companies that DO NOT test on animals(however CHECK INGREDIENTS they only verify testing not ingredients):

Will a multivitamin be sufficient to replace lost nutrients in a vegetarian/vegan diet?
Question: Will a multivitamin be sufficient to replace lost nutrients in a vegetarian/vegan diet?
I’m trying to go vegetarian (or if possible, vegan) but I’m worried about nutrient loss. I know you can get all sorts of vegan foods such as soy milk and tofu that replace the nutrients found in meat, but I’m almost too lazy to check every single thing I eat for sufficient nutrients (or let food rule my life that much). Will simply taking a multivitamin be sufficient?

The only nutrient found primarily in meat is vitamin B12, and it is also found in dairy and eggs and fortified cereals.
If you eat a varied diet of beans, legumes, seeds, nuts, whole grains, veggies and fruit you will not be “losing” nutrients, but probably eating more than when you were relying on meat for them.

Q&A: What can a vegetarian eat that will have the proper amount of vitamins and other necessary nutrients?
Question: What can a vegetarian eat that will have the proper amount of vitamins and other necessary nutrients?
I recently became vegetarian and I would like to know what kinds of things I can eat that will give me the right amounts of fiber, iron and other nutrients necessary for my body to function properly. The reason I ask is that I was recently told that being vegetarian may not be all that good for you. I heard from this person that there was a study done and it showed that there were obese vegetarians and others that were not getting enough nutrients.

Q&A: How do I go on a vegan diet and still get all the nutrients I need?
Question: How do I go on a vegan diet and still get all the nutrients I need?
One of my friend’s family has gone on a vegan diet. I did some research on vegans and it sounds like a great way to eat, but how do you still get all the nutrients? Without meat how are you getting protien and calcium without the dairy? How do you know if somethings processed or not? I honestly know just about nothing about food (calories, fiber, or what any of this really is) so i need it straight forward please. Thanks.

It is possible to get all the nutrients you need on a vegan (no meat, seafood, milk products, or eggs) diet. You can get your calcium and vitamin D from soy, rice, or almond milks. You can get protein, iron, and vitamin B12 from beans, tofu, and fortified foods. There are many products in the natural foods section of your grocery especially developed for vegans to help them meet their vitamin needs. If you want to do this long term and make sure you meet all of your nutrient needs, I suggest you meet with a dietitian to get a plan specific for you.
