All food has protein. Whole grains, legumes and nuts are all good sources, fruits and vegetables are good too but tend to contain a bit less. I average 3500 cals a day and average more than 100 grams of protein. This is just from whole foods as I dont tend to use tofu, faux meats, etc processed foods.

Can weightlifting vegans get enough protein?
Question: Can weightlifting vegans get enough protein?
I lift weights, 3 times a week (body for life type of program) and am actively pursuing a vegan lifestyle. Any suggestions?
Answer:
Answer by Frosty The Snow me!
Vegans get proteins from green leafy veges and beans. The amount of protein intake is simply up to the individual. If weightlifting is only part of your regimen 3 times per week, you certainly won’t need to increase your protein intake.

Nuts and Seeds.
Try to eat a variety.
Look up nutrients of every thing you’re eating, and then look up what the human body needs.
May be time consuming, but come on dude, it’s your health.
I don’t recommend soy as protein source, although i’m sure many in this section might tell me i’m wrong.
The easier way is to see a naturopath/nutritionist or something so you can and get blood tests and see what you may be lacking.

That’s definitely not going to be a problem unless you are anorexic or eat nothing but Twinkies.
Bread, pasta, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts and seeds are all great sources of protein. If you eat three whole meals a day or more, there is no possibility that you’ll be deficient in protein.
No, salad does not count as a meal and it is not a good source of protein either.

Whole grains (whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread, brown rice, quinoa), beans and nuts are excellent sources but everything has protein in it. It’s the easiest thing to get. You also have to make sure you get enough minerals and vitamins.
Google the Vegetarian Food Pyramid.

What foods provide good protein for a vegetarian/vegan who is on a regular workout schedule?

There’s almost no way to skimp on protein being a vegetarian, because almost everything has it. When you get too much protein, it just gets stored as fat… The real problem is remembering to get enough Vitamin B1, B6 or B12. One glass of milk, or maybe an egg now and then, solves that problem as well
