Brown rice recipe ideas for a vegan?

Question: Brown rice recipe ideas for a vegan?
I’m actually a fruitarian, but I’ve decided to incorporate some “vegan” friendly food in to my diet. I love brown rice but I’m getting kind of bored of the plain taste, and I’m looking for some recipes.

Jumbo Rice Krispies. Have you tried them yet?

Question: Jumbo Rice Krispies. Have you tried them yet?
I saw these advertised and the first thing that went though my mind was “Finger Food”!

Has anyone else tried these with their baby yet? How did they like them? Did they dissolve easy? Are they big enough that baby can use the pincer grasp?

Thanks for letting me know! =)
Ummm… rainwriter let me quote you. “I gave my baby the puffs when he was… 6 months old… but they’re pretty junky and not healthy.”

So the puffs are okay to feed your baby but whole grain Rice Krispies are not.

Hypocrite.
You are missing my point dear. I didn’t want to be lectured about what I feed my baby or I would have posted, “Please come lecture me about what I feed my baby” If you couldn’t tell me if you used them or not then why lecture me instead? Whatever. Trust me sweets I won’t be changing what I feed him because of your opinion.
That was perfect! Thank you. I knew you would see it my way. =)

Ugh, I was going to pick these up at the store today while I was out because I thought the same thing! Darn it. Thanks for reminding me… lol.

They look like they would be great for little fingers and a lot healthier than some of the snacks geared towards babies.

If rice cereal isn’t a good first food then why…?

Question: If rice cereal isn’t a good first food then why…?
I have been on many websites that say rice cereal is NOT a good first food. I totally agree! My daughter was on it at 4 weeks due to reflux. But what I am confused about is why do Dr’s recommend giving them rice cereal as a first food if studies are now showing that grains are not a good first food?

Here is one website saying it isn’t a good first food: “Studies are now revealing that grains may not be good starter foods for baby to digest.”

http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/cereal.htm#Why%20cant%20I%20just%20skip%20the%20cereals%20altogether

This is just a curiosity question. If I don’t get good answers, oh well.
There is no need to get mad about this. I did listen to my daughters Dr. She is now 8 months and healthy. I said this is just a curiosity question!

Many babies are allergic to grains. They say to start with rice in case of a wheat allergy.

I have a friend that I went to college with who is allergic to wheat and to dairy. Figure that one out! Yipes! Lactaid and rice cakes- nothing with wheat. Run through a mental list of all food products made from wheat and you will be astonished, she could eat none of them!

As well, rice cereal and oatmeal are junk foods- yes they have iron and are iron fortified- but if baby is low on iron, there are other ways to get that iron to them: in veggies.

This is my take on the idea posted in the article. There may be others as well that I have not included here.

Q&A: When to introduce rice cereals and 1st foods?

Question: When to introduce rice cereals and 1st foods?
I notice most Gerber foods go by development stages such as “supported sitter” etc as to when to introduce rice cereals and 1st foods. My son is 4 months ( well he will be on the 26th). I will be asking his pediatrician next visit, but when did you introduce your baby to rice cereal and other “1st foods”( like the gerber pureed fruits etc)? And also, when did you introduce infant juices?

I was told by my pediatrician no solids until 6 months. Other people start earlier.

HUGE smile! It is NOT referring to the sin of “Gluttony” (which means over-indulgence)…

Gluten is the protein found in wheat. Some people are either allergic, or their bodies just can’t tolerant (or break down) this protein.

You’ll notice the words “Gluten Free” on items (like your rice) , to indicate there is no wheat, or wheat products used to make this particular product. So it is safe for people to eat that are on a strict Gluten Free Diet (a diet which they don’t eat ANYTHING that may even have a speck of Gluten in it).

Hope this helps ;)

Q&A: Why do people pay more money for “Gluten-free” Rice Krispies when ALL Rice Krispies are Gluten-free?

Question: Why do people pay more money for “Gluten-free” Rice Krispies when ALL Rice Krispies are Gluten-free?
Saw a box of “Gluten-free” Rice Krispies in the grocery store yesterday and had to laugh. As someone who was once believed to have Celiac disease, I had to do the gluten-free diet for over a year. I also had a wheat allergy so the gluten-free products were my friend. Needless to say, Rice Krispies were the only decent tasting wheat-free cereal. Als noted a 22 oz box of regular Rice Krispies were a mere $ 2.99 while the 12 oz “Gluten-free” variety were marked at $ 3.89. So I ask, anyone who needs to be on a Gluten-free diet should also know rice and rice flour are your main ingredients in the grain group, so why wouldn’t they simply purchase the larger, cheaper, boxes?

Can I buy rice wine without an ID?

Question: Can I buy rice wine without an ID?
I’m 19 and want to buy shaoxing wine, which is basically rice wine. I’m going to an Asian grocery store (Ranch 99). I was wondering if I could go and buy the wine since it’s used for cooking in a lot of foods. What are the chances that I can get the “drinking” version and what are the chances that I can get the “cooking” version without an ID? I want to make drunken chicken.
